Music on the Inside

We offer a variety of songwriting programs to incarcerated individuals, as well as formerly incarcerated individuals. Songwriting is a tool that those experiencing incarceration can leverage to help express emotions long kept buried deep within their soul. We have seen the active use of songwriting be the means to facilitate relationship reconciliation between fathers and their children, forgiveness to be asked for and received, and also become a means to process death - as only an incarcerated individual experiences.

Music in Medicine

Music has physical positive benefits to the human body. Studies have proven that music can help alleviate pain, calm an anxious mind, lower blood pressure, and have an overall positive impact on health. Beyond active listening to music, songwriting offers those dealing with long-term illness or terminal illness a way to process the diagnosis and express emotions. It also provides the canvas to say what needs to be said or could not previously be said. Songwriting is also a powerful therapeutic tool for families who are walking alongside their loved one as they battle their illness.

Music in Grief

Music has the power to help people processing loss. Whether it is things not said, or things people now want to say, songwriting can help an individual express feelings experienced as they navigate the grief journey and process their loss.
